The sky in Manitoba is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen. It feels like you've been shrunk to about half your stature, your eyes can see twice as far, and time is taking a leisurely stroll. Our kids grew up around mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Not at all impressed with the Canadian Rockies, they stared agape at the flat eastward vastness before them and the impossibly wide dome above on a car trip years ago. Try guessing the mileage (in KM of course) to that tree far up the road (it might be dark before you get there). Only on such a canvas could be painted a society that honors earth and sky and seasons as life itself.

Your skies will see their mark on me long before I'm gone

The waves of grace, the rising tide of all that's good and true

And when it's clear both far and near are closer, so it seems
